Watering Guidelines & Plant Warranty

All newly installed plant material will be fertilized, mulched, and watered upon installation.

Please refer to the following watering guidelines:

WATERING GUIDELINES
Leonard Landscaping, Inc. suggests the following guidelines for watering various forms of plant material. These are only guidelines that are to be continually adjusted according to weather, soil composition, and seasonal conditions.

TREES, SHRUBS, AND FLOWERS – Newly planted trees, shrubs, and flowers should be watered on an average 2-3 times weekly for the first year. A simple moisture test is to place your finger just under the mulch layer and feeling the amount of moisture in the soil, water plants for 15-20 minutes.

SOD – After installation, sod should remain soaked with water for 14 days. This may mean watering the area thoroughly once or twice daily for approximately 14 to 20 minutes each time. After the initial 14-day period, the sod should be watered once every 2-4 days for 15 to 30 minutes for a period of 2-3 weeks. Morning is the preferred time to water sod. Watering other times of day will promote “burning” of the turf and/or promote the spread of various turf fungi and diseases.

SEED – After installation, the newly seeded areas should be watered for 20-30 minutes daily until germination occurs. If you notice that erosion is occurring, the cease watering for that day. After germination has begun, water every other day during the morning for the reasons stated in the sodding section. Continue the “every other day” schedule for approximately three weeks.

Another guide to follow is based on the weekly outdoor temperatures:
90°+ water 4 times a week
70° – 90° water 3 times a week
50° – 70° water 2 times a week

These are only guidelines and will vary due to rainfall, wind conditions and temperatures.

PLANT WARRANTY
All shrubs and trees planted by Leonard Landscaping, Inc. are guaranteed for a one (1) year period. Replacement of plants under the warranty plan will be done no later than one week before the one year deadline is up.

The guarantee is valid under the following provisions:

• That the client has kept the plants watered on a regular schedule consistent with that indicated above under Water Guidelines.
• That the plants have not been, as determined by Leonard Landscaping, Inc. damaged unnaturally due to vehicles, pets, people, improper spraying of fertilizing by anyone other than Leonard Landscaping, Inc.
• That the plants have not been damaged due to flooding, storm damage, or any other Acts of God that are uncontrollable.
• That the plants have not been, as determined by Leonard Landscaping, Inc., damaged or killed due to severe winter conditions such as low temperatures, dehydration, or snow damage.
• Plants that have died during the warranty period will be replaced one (1) time only at the end of the guarantee. Replacements are not covered with an additional guarantee, thus ending all warranty work.
• Warranty does not cover the following material: Sod, Seed, Bulbs, Annual Flowers, Chrysanthemums, Cabbage, and Kale.

PAVER WALKS & PATIOS AND WALLS WARRANTY
All pavers walks, paver patios and walls installed by Leonard Landscaping, Inc. are guaranteed for a three (3) year period for workmanship. Also one (1) year warranty on all Hanover products in cases of defects

The guarantee is valid under the following provisions:

• Some settling of the ground on brand new construction homes will not be covered under warranty.
